Veterinary Medicine
Studies in veterinary medicine at FVM are conducted in the English language in the form of a single master's degree. They begin with the winter semester, last 11 semesters (5.5 years) and end with the degree of veterinary surgeon.
The sequence of compulsory subjects in the course of veterinary studies is regulated by the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Science of July 17, 2019 on the standard of education preparing for the profession of veterinary surgeon. During the course of their studies, veterinary students have the opportunity to learn about the latest scientific developments in veterinary science and apply the knowledge they have gained in practice. The curriculum includes basic subjects ( anatomy, histology and embryology, biology, chemistry and animal physiology), preclinical subjects (pharmacology, parasitology, microbiology) and clinical subjects, as well as a group of subjects related to public health and veterinary administration in the broadest sense.
A veterinary graduate has extensive knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of animal diseases, veterinary administration and public health protection. He has the necessary practical skills in veterinary medical activities. He understands the causes of diseases, is able to recognize and interpret the symptoms of anatomopathological changes and implement appropriate treatment in specific disease entities. Can apply appropriate preventive programs. He knows the law, the rules of adjudication and the preparation of opinions for courts, state and local government bodies.
Students graduating from veterinary studies find employment in veterinary clinics, Veterinary Inspection, sanitary-epidemiological stations, inspection and research laboratories, veterinary diagnostic laboratories, animal breeding stations, research institutions, zoos, pharmaceutical plants.
By the end of the first semester, students are required to complete health and safety training, library training and training on discrimination and its prevention. All training is provided using distance learning techniques, on a platform: szkolenia.sggw.edu.pl

W semestrze istnieje możliwość realizacji przedmiotu Indywidualny projekt badawczy. Celem tego modułu jest stworzenie studentom medycyny weterynaryjnej zainteresowanym dziedziną nauki i badań naukowych możliwości prowadzenia badań naukowych zakończonych publikacją i obroną pracy dyplomowej, formalnie wymaganej przez różne uczelnie podczas naboru na studia doktoranckie. Liczba punktów ECTS uzyskanych w ramach tego modułu (20) nie jest wliczana do ogólnej liczby wymaganych punktów ECTS.
