Organic Agriculture and Food Production
The studies are conducted in English. The studies start from winter semester, last for 6 of semesters (3 years) and end with a vocational degree licencjat.
From the 3rd semester of study, students have the opportunity to independently shape their path of study by adapting it to their individual professional and academic interests through access to a wide range of elective courses, including courses taught in a foreign language. From the 2nd year, students can participate in international exchanges under the Erasmus program.
Graduates of Organic Agriculture and Food Production have knowledge of both natural sciences, ecology, environmental protection and principles of agricultural landscaping, organic food production standards of IFOAM and EU and national regulations on organic food production, organic farm management, including the technology of organic crop and animal production and raw materials, as well as organic food processing and organic food marketing in the broad sense. A distinguishing feature of graduates of Organic Agriculture and Food Production is their knowledge of the specifics of the organic food market.
Graduates are educated comprehensively, so they are prepared to work on organic farms, in organic food processing, in trade, companies and national government offices related to the functioning of organic agriculture (e.g. certification bodies, WIJHARS, PIORIN, Agricultural Advisory Centers, etc.), as well as in international organizations (IFOAM, FAIRTRADE, DEMETER, GREENPEACE, etc.) and other companies operating in the service of domestic and international organic production. Completion of the first degree program also enables the graduate to take up second degree studies at universities in Poland and the EU.
By the end of the first semester, students are required to complete health and safety training, library training and training on discrimination and its prevention. All training is provided using distance learning techniques, on a platform: szkolenia.sggw.edu.pl
